This year for Christmas one of the gifts I received from my parents was a Kindle Fire (by amazon). I absolutely love it. I am an avid reader carrying about 4 different books anytime I go anywhere on an extended trip, so this will really help condense my travel load as well as allow me to take my books anywhere I want. I plan on reading several new titles this year, and if you recall from my New Year's resolution post, at least 5 parenting type books. Here are a few things that are on my list to read or that I am currently reading at the moment.
1.
Family Shepherds: Calling and Equipping Men to Lead Their Homes by Dr. Voddie Baucham. Yes I know this is a book for husbands and fathers, but my husband is in the middle of another book and I didn't want to wait to read this. I am on chapter 10 and have enjoyed it so far. It is like a bunch of his messages all wrapped up in one central location. He is incredibly intelligent and it shows, his writing makes you think, go back and reread, and just simmer on certain ideas.
2.
Shepherding a Child's Heart by Ted Trip. I haven't yet had a chance to begin this one, but I have heard it come highly recommended from several trusted friends. I want to make sure I nurture my little guy's heart and help him develop good character. I hope this will help.
3.
Bringing Up Boys by Dr. James Dobson is another on my list of parenting books to read. I am also halfway through with it. It is chopped full of great information and statistics as well as ideas on what it means to be a boy, how they are different from girls, and ways to parent them. There are many details throughout this book, so it is harder to read in just one sitting, I find myself taking a break, and then going back to it.
4.
The Ministry of Motherhood: Following Christ's Example in Reaching the Hearts of Our Children by Sally Clarkson. I do not own this book yet, I have just seen it on the "recommended for you" section on Amazon. The reviews are wonderful though so I hope to purchase it in the near future.
5.
Cracking the Communication Code by Dr. Emmerson Eggerich is another book I am very excited about. I have started it and most things he says are dead on and make sense. I can't wait for my hubby to get a hold of it.
There you have it, 5 books I am looking forward to reading this year, among many other fiction stories. I am excited about what I will learn through each of these. What about you? Are there any I should add to my list?
I LOVE Ministry of Motherhood! By far one of the best parenting books I've read!
