Diabetes Care Is Not One-Size-Fits-All

I have been seeing many posts lately sharing studies that claim this medication or that supplement is the best way to manage diabetes—as if everyone should fit into one singular mold.
After many years in nursing, I can tell you with confidence that healthcare simply does not work that way. I have never seen a medication, treatment plan, or dietary approach that is truly “one size fits all.”
Yes, research matters. Studies matter. Medical advancements matter. But we also need to remember something very important.
God created each of us uniquely.
He made us in His image yet designed our bodies with incredible individuality. What works beautifully for one person may not work the same way for another.
One person may thrive on one medication while another struggles with side effects.
One person may do well with a certain eating plan while another sees glucose spikes from the exact same foods.
One person may benefit from a supplement while another sees little to no change.
That does not mean one person is failing. It simply means their body is different.
I absolutely believe in asking for help and seeking guidance. We were never meant to walk through life alone. Sometimes others have knowledge, experience, and insight that can help us tremendously. There is wisdom in learning from physicians, nurses, dietitians, educators, and even from others walking similar journeys.
However, I also believe some information deserves a much deeper dive into the educational abyss before we accept it as truth. Not everything we hear, read, or watch should be accepted at face value.
Sometimes we need to stop and ask:
Where is this information coming from?
Is it evidence-based?
Is it being used to educate—or simply to sell?
Does this truly make sense for my body and my situation?
We have all heard the phrase: “If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.”
That applies to diabetes care too.
Be cautious of anyone promising a quick fix, miracle cure, or guaranteed results.
Managing diabetes is rarely about shortcuts. More often, it is about learning your body, understanding your patterns, making wise adjustments, and staying consistent.
At Faithful Steps, I want people to know that managing diabetes is not about perfection.
It is about knowledge. It is about awareness. It is about consistency. And it is about grace.
There will be trial and error. There will be adjustments. There may even be setbacks.
That does not mean you are failing. It means you are learning.
God knows every detail of your body better than anyone else ever could. He understands what you need physically, mentally, and spiritually.
You are not just a diagnosis. You are not just a blood sugar reading. You are a uniquely created child of God.
And your journey deserves individualized care, compassion, wisdom, and truth.
