Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in a rich Golden Honey Dijon glaze, this low-carb baked tofu is a satisfying plant-based meal. Enjoy it with roasted vegetables, riced cauliflower, or in a fresh garden salad.
Servings: 4
Prep Time: 20 minutes (+20 minutes to press tofu)
Bake Time: 40–45 minutes
INGREDIENTS
For the Tofu
1 block (14–16 ounces) extra-firm tofu, pressed and cut into medium cubes
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Pinch of salt (optional)
Golden Honey Dijon Glaze
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons raw, unfiltered honey
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon onion powder
Black pepper, to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 – Press the Tofu
Drain the tofu and place it between paper towels. Cover with a clean piece of cheesecloth (or another paper towel). Place a heavy cast-iron skillet or pot on top and press for about 20 minutes. If desired, gently add pressure every few minutes as more liquid is released.
Cut the tofu into medium-sized cubes.
Step 2 – Preheat the Oven
Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Step 3 – Season the Tofu
In a large bowl, gently toss the tofu with:
Olive oil
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Smoked paprika
Black pepper
Optional pinch of salt
Spread the tofu in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 4 – First Bake
Bake for 25–30 minutes, carefully turning the tofu halfway through baking.
The tofu should be lightly golden and noticeably firmer before removing it from the oven.
Step 5 – Prepare the Golden Honey Dijon Glaze
While the tofu bakes, whisk together:
Dijon mustard
Yellow mustard
Mayonnaise
Raw, unfiltered honey
Apple cider vinegar
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Black pepper
Reserve about ¼ cup of the glaze in a separate bowl before coating the tofu. This reserved glaze can be used later as a dipping sauce or drizzle.
Step 6 – Glaze the Tofu
Carefully transfer the baked tofu to a bowl.
Pour the remaining glaze over the tofu and gently fold until every piece is evenly coated.
Allow the tofu to rest in the glaze for 10–15 minutes so it can absorb more flavor.
Return the tofu to the baking sheet in a single layer.
Step 7 – Second Bake
Bake for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until the glaze is bubbling and lightly caramelized.
Watch carefully during the last few minutes to prevent the honey from burning.
Serving Suggestions
This recipe pairs well with:
Roasted broccoli and cauliflower
Roasted Brussels sprouts
Green beans
Asparagus
Roasted zucchini and yellow squash
Riced cauliflower
A fresh garden salad
Serve the reserved Golden Honey Dijon Glaze alongside the meal for dipping or drizzle it over the finished tofu and vegetables.
💛 Faithful Steps Kitchen Tips
Pressing the tofu for about 20 minutes helps create a firmer texture while still allowing it to absorb the glaze.
Handle the tofu gently after the first bake, as it becomes more delicate before the glaze is caramelized.
For a little extra moisture and a touch of sweet heat, try a light drizzle of G Hughes Sugar Free Sweet Chili Sauce just before serving.
